Mothersucker

We ordered a bass guitar for my son today.  Extravagant? Yes, but I am a sucker. And a mother.  A true mothersucker.  In my defense he won the school's talent show on Thursday, with Alfie and Thom: Gorrilaz, Feel Good Inc.  Anders has been learning some chords from Alfie but he hasn't got a guitar, just a sax and a clarinet, so Anders rapped, Thom brilliant on drums, Alfie vocals and guitar, so much talent.  Anders needs to play bass, and he is 13 as of about 10 minutes ago.  He is rapping now, on computer in the same room (Tiney T.), as I write this.

The day before, on Wednesday, as a true mothersucker, I drove 45 minutes to London to see Anders in a rugby match, 3rd team.  Last year he was on the 8th team.  How couldn I say no, even when I got the call late in the afternoon that there was the change in venue and the match was now away?  They played Colet Court, who were by far the most ill behaved and rude people I have ever met: (slapping their opponents in the face, shouting "you suck" to those cheering for their opponents, all in ear and eyeshot of their coaches, who held back secret smiles.  Driving 4 boys back in the "warm" (smelly, old, dirty) Volvo, our boys were very happy not to be like that lot at Colet Court, and also not to be on the coach (cold, teachers).  So when they burst out singing with Labrynth on the radio, I was taken aback.  Why are they flawless?  Where is Simon Cowell?  Oh. yeh.  These are 4 boys from the Chamber Choir, all on the 2nd/3rd rugby team, and best mates.  It was beautiful.  4 muddy choir boys, flawlessly unbroken voices singing to something supercool...it was spine chillingly good and I am one lucky mothersucker. x x TaraRuns
